Don and Norma Toland have been members of Wycliffe Bible Translators] since 1970. Don and Norma served the Lord in Papua New Guinea [PNG] for 30 years.
During those years, they did translation, and literacy work among the Rawa and Karo speaking people. Along with the Rawa translation team of four, they translated the Rawa and the Karo New Testaments and several books of the Old Testaments; wrote up a full Rawa Grammar, and diglot dictionary; wrote a full 2 year school curriculum for the Rawa children; trained 2 Literacy Coordinators; conducted teacher training; and created many Rawa reading books.
Besides their work among the Rawa people, Don also did extensive Administrative work serving our whole PNG Field Branch as: Branch Director, on three (3) International Boards, on the PNG Executive Committee, and as the Regional Area Director [RAD] for over twenty six other Translation – Literacy teams.
Since returning to assume a stateside assignment with Wycliffe in 2001, Don has been working with the Advancement Department of Wycliffe and is currently on the Bible Visuals International Board. He teaches an adult Sunday School Bible Class once a month and serves on the Administrative Board and is the Capital Campaign Manager for a proposed new Activities Center at their home church.
