Based on verse 4 some have suggested that this particular psalm was written for the worshippers to chant as they processed into the Temple for worship

Based on the superscription “a psalm for giving thanks” (NASB & NIV) others have suggested that it was designed to be sung when sacrifices of thanksgiving (Lev. 7:12) were being offered.
