Critical But Stable
This is a psalm “to the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Al’amoth.” The term Al’amoth was a form of the Hebrew word for virgin. This means the psalm was either tuned by or to be sung by a section of those who had voices like virgins.
Psalm 46 consoles the citizens of Jerusalem “the city of God” (4) in the midst of being under attack by the enemy (2-3).
