In this Psalm the writer is longing for the house of worship.  It is written to the chief musician upon Gittith.  The word Gittith is a disputed term, it can mean “a wine song” or refer to an instrument from Gath.  This is also a Psalm for the sons of Korah which means they either composed it or performed it.  The sons of Korah were individuals who could trace their lineage back to Levi.  They held positions of service in the Tabernacle (Ex. 6:24) and were ministers of music during the time of David (1 Chron. 6:31-37).
