WHAT TO DO WHEN LIFE DERAILS YOU
Unlike some of the other Psalms of David, this one gives no historical background. However, with references in this Psalm to being hid in God’s pavilion and tabernacle, and being placed on a high rock, it can be surmised that David is recalling times in his life when the Lord protected him from the attacks of his enemies—Saul throwing a javelin at David (1 Sam. 18:9-11); The confrontation with the Amalekites (1 Sam. 30:1-6); Absalom’s rebellion (2 Sam. 15:7-12).
