Craig Schweiger became the Executive Director of Light of Life Mission in 2011. Craig had a career for 20 years in the mortgage business and was involved with Light of Life as a supporter and member of the board’s Real Estate Advisory Committee. A North Hills native and 1986 North Allegheny High School graduate, Craig graduated from Westminster College in 1990 with a degree in finance. Mr. Schweiger and his wife Leeanne have six children.
Light of Life Ministries, located on the North Side of Pittsburgh since 1953, is a Christ-Centered rescue and recovery ministry for homeless men, women and children. Their goal is to empower the poor, homeless, addicted and abused to achieve healthy, productive, addiction-free lifestyles.
Major programs include: Samaritan Ministries (Emergency shelter for men and daily meal and chapel services for all); Men’s Recovery Program (long-term residential program for men addressing addiction, education employment, mental health issues and life skills); Women and Children’s Program (long-term program addressing addiction, education, employment, mental health issues, life/parenting skills and strengthening the family unit); Education and Employment; and After-Care and Mentoring. Annually, Light of Life serves 1000 individuals, provides 94,000 meals and more than 100,000 hours of programming.
