A POWERFUL PROCLAMATION— A PERSONAL REFLECTION
This psalm begins and ends by extolling the majesty of God’s name in the earth. In between is sandwiched the significance of mankind over the Lord’s creation here on earth. This psalm is to the chief musician “upon Gittith.” The term Gittith is a disputed term, it can be referring to a wine song or an instrument from Gath. Some theologians and commentators believe the occasion for writing this psalm came out of David’s personal reflection after defeating the giant, Goliath.
