The Blessing Board

http://www.blessingboard.org/

In 2007, Tom Mitlo began to feel the call by God to furnish homes with love.  He recognized that many people were in need of the items that others no longer wanted.  It became his mission to find a way to bridge this gap and fill those needs. In 2009, that mission developed as he began to work out of his garage helping those who needed furniture. After two years, The Blessing Board, embracing the mission of “loving our neighbor,” grew to be a reality with the help of an area church.  In 2011 The Blessing Board received its 501(c)3 status and became a stand-alone non-profit entity.

Over the past nine years the footprint of The Blessing Board has grown from a garage, to rented storage units, to a house, to a small warehouse, and finally to its current location – a 46,000 square foot warehouse and office space in Oakmont, PA.  We are staffed primarily by volunteers – over 600 men, women, and children served in the first nine months of 2016 alone.

Since its inception thousands of families throughout Allegheny County have received blessings. At The Blessing Board we are committed to loving our neighbors and improving their quality of life by providing the furniture and household goods that they need free of charge.  We rely on volunteers and donations of furniture and funding to keep the blessings flowing.
